The Overthrowing

Meaning

0.

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

In the name of Allah, All-Merciful, Most Merciful

Blessings

1.

اِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُـوِّرَتْۙۖ

Itha ashshamsu kuwwirat

When the sun is compacted in blackness

By Mourning

2.

وَاِذَا النُّجُومُ انْكَدَرَتْۙۖ

Wa-itha annujoomu inkadarat

when the stars fall in rapid succession

By no Happiness

3.

وَاِذَا الْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْۙۖ

Wa-itha aljibalu suyyirat

when the mountains are set in motion

By no Presidency now

4.

وَاِذَا الْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْۙۖ

Wa-itha alAAisharu AAuttilat

when the camels in foal are neglected,

By no Bachelorette now

5.

وَاِذَا الْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْۙۖ

Wa-itha alwuhooshu hushirat

when the wild beasts are all herded together,

By the Devil

6.

وَاِذَا الْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْۙۖ

Wa-itha albiharu sujjirat

when the oceans surge into each other,

By the Angels

7.

وَاِذَا النُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْۙۖ

Wa-itha annufoosu zuwwijat

when the selves are arranged into classes,

By the Page

8.

وَاِذَا الْمَوْءُ۫دَةُ سُئِلَتْ

Wa-itha almawoodatu su-ilat

when the baby girl buried alive is asked

By the South

9.

بِاَيِّ ذَنْبٍ قُتِلَتْۚ

Bi-ayyi thanbin qutilat

for what crime she was killed,

By no North

10.

وَاِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْۙۖ

Wa-itha assuhufunushirat

when the Pages are opened up,

By the News

11.

وَاِذَا السَّمَٓاءُ كُشِطَتْۙۖ

Wa-itha assamao kushitat

when the Heaven is peeled away,

By the New World now

12.

وَاِذَا الْجَح۪يمُ سُعِّرَتْۙۖ

Wa-itha aljaheemu suAAAAirat

when the Fire is set ablaze,

By the Sexual Needs now

13.

وَاِذَا الْجَنَّةُ اُزْلِفَتْۙۖ

Wa-itha aljannatu ozlifat

when the Garden is brought up close:

By Dating now

14.

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَٓا اَحْضَرَتْۜ

AAalimat nafsun ma ahdarat

then each self will know what it has done.

By Acknowledgements

15.

فَلَٓا اُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِۙ

Fala oqsimu bilkhunnas

No! I swear by the planets with their retrograde motion,

By Continental Paradise

16.

اَلْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِ

Aljawari alkunnas

swiftly moving, self-concealing,

17.

وَالَّيْلِ اِذَا عَسْعَسَۙ

Wallayli itha AAasAAas

and by the night when it draws in,

By the Fall of the Old Presidency

18.

وَالصُّبْحِ اِذَا تَنَفَّسَۙ

Wassubhi ithatanaffas

and by the dawn when it exhales,

By the Agreement of the New Presidencies

19.

اِنَّهُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَر۪يمٍۙ

Innahu laqawlu rasoolin kareem

truly it is the speech of a noble Messenger,

By the Noble Press Conference Emerituses

20.

ذ۪ي قُوَّةٍ عِنْدَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ مَك۪ينٍۙ

Thee quwwatin AAinda theealAAarshi makeen

possessing great strength, securely placed with the Lord of the Throne

By the World President

21.

مُطَاعٍ ثَمَّ اَم۪ينٍۜ

MutaAAin thamma ameen

obeyed there, trustworthy.

By Supreme Leadership

22.

وَمَا صَاحِبُكُمْ بِمَجْنُونٍۚ

Wama sahibukum bimajnoon

Your companion is not mad.

As Salaam is not mad

23.

وَلَقَدْ رَاٰهُ بِالْاُفُقِ الْمُب۪ينِۚ

Walaqad raahu bilofuqialmubeen

He saw him on the clear horizon.

By Seeing him in 6612 South St Lawrence Window

24.

وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الْغَيْبِ بِضَن۪ينٍۚ

Wama huwa AAala alghaybi bidaneen

Nor is he miserly with the Unseen.

By Real Unseen Angels too

25.

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَانٍ رَج۪يمٍۚ

Wama huwa biqawli shaytaninrajeem

Nor is it the word of an accursed Shaytan

By No Satanism

26.

فَاَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَۜ

Faayna tathhaboon

So where, then, are you going?

By No WH

27.

اِنْ هُوَ اِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِلْعَالَم۪ينَۙ

In huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameen

It is nothing but a Reminder to all the worlds,

By World Acknowledgment

28.

لِمَنْ شَٓاءَ مِنْكُمْ اَنْ يَسْتَق۪يمَ

Liman shaa minkum an yastaqeem

to whoever among you wishes to go straight.

By the desire to do right!

29.

وَمَا تَشَٓاؤُ۫نَ اِلَّٓا اَنْ يَشَٓاءَ اللّٰهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَم۪ينَ

Wama tashaoona illa anyashaa Allahu rabbu alAAalameen

But you will not will unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds.

By Allah’s Will!
